POTUS Is Posting: Social Media and National Security

Posted on in Presentations

Russian involvement in the 2016 US election and President Trump’s arsenal of tweets barely hint at the ways in which social media now plays a role in our national security. Nation-state spheres of influence extend far and wide through social media, and their tactics are devious and diverse. This talk will show how social media is a platform for crime, espionage, propaganda, terrorism and war.

Learning Objectives:
1: Learn about the weaponization of social media by nation-state actors.
2: Understand how senior US government officials were compromised via social media.
3: Learn how best to protect social media accounts, even from advanced hackers.
