How short videos on cybercrime, hackers, and ransomware engage CISOs and IT leaders
Today we asked AI “Why use YouTube for marketing?” and it replied “YouTube is a powerful marketing tool because of its vast user base, high engagement rates with video content, and ability to boost brand awareness, drive traffic, and build trust through educational and engaging content, all while leveraging the power of Google's search engine.”
Case in point: If a CISO, IT leader, journalist, or anyone else making the pilgrimage to this year’s RSACTM 2025 Conference, wants to know how much ransomware costs before grilling exhibitors on the topic, then they’re likely to do a Google search on “ransomware cost” to find the answer.
Earlier this month, we released a one-minute video “Global Ransomware Damage Costs Predicted To Hit $57 Billion Annually In 2025” and within a week, a Google search on “ransomware cost” shows the video on the first page results with a clickable thumbnail image and a play button.* That video had more than 500,000 views after a week, and by the time anyone reads this blog post, it should eclipse one million views.
According to a chart displayed in the video, ransomware will cost the world $20 million per minute in 2025. That’s about how much time it took you to read this blog post.
We believe that AI knows exactly what it’s talking about when it comes to YouTube for marketing, and in our case, cybersecurity. Hopefully more vendors will heed its advice.

* Google search results vary by user based on a variety of factors. So, we had dozens of people run this same search in different locations and on different machines and browser types. We also ran the search in incognito mode. In all cases the video is displayed on the first page of results. But it is possible that someone might get a different result.
