AI Ethicist and Visiting Researcher, Google
Shannon Vallor is the Regis and Dianne McKenna Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Santa Clara University, where her research addresses the ethical implications of emerging science and technology, especially AI, robotics and new media. She is also an AI Ethicist and Visiting Researcher at Google. With the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University, she has authored and released a body of free online materials for incorporating ethics into technical courses and technical practice. Professor Vallor received the 2015 World Technology Award in Ethics from the World Technology Network, and is the author of Technology and the Virtues: A Philosophical Guide to a Future Worth Wanting (Oxford University Press, 2016).
