Changing Academia

Posted on in Presentations

Higher education needs to incorporate a public interest perspective in technology departments and a tech perspective in public policy departments. This could look like ethics courses for CS majors, programming for law students, or joint degrees that combine tech and social science. This session will look at some efforts to build these sorts of interdisciplinary classes, programs and institutes.

Learning Objectives:
1: Learn about past precedents and current priorities in public interest field-building through academia.
2: Help inform ongoing efforts to build cross-disciplinary curricula at top institutions.
3: Understand linkages between academia and other sectors: labs, mentoring opportunities and more.
