What is RSA® Conference 2008?

Will any new events or programs be held at RSA Conference 2008?
This year’s conference will follow the same format as in years past. We continue to enhance activities programs such as the Crypto Commons and Peer-to-Peer sessions.

What is the Conference theme for RSA Conference 2008?
Every year, RSA Conference is built around a different theme which highlights a significant example of information security from history. In 2008, we celebrate the influence of Alan Mathison Turing. He is often referred to as the father of modern computer science.

Turing has been the subject of several important biographies and inspired the ACM A. M. Turing Award, which is widely considered to be the computing world’s equivalent to the Nobel Prize. Given annually, the Turing Award honors individuals whose technical contributions have elevated the computing community.

What are the registration costs for the Conference?
Depending on the type of registration and when you register, there are different costs. Please refer to the costs listed on our Registration page.

*Students must present valid University ID and current class schedule showing 12 units/credits at on-site registration. Fulltime Professors must bring a valid, accredited university ID.

What type of payments do you accept?
We accept credit cards, (American Express, VISA and Mastercard) checks and wire transfers. Purchase orders are not an accepted form of payment. Please be sure to include your order number ID, First Name, and Last Name on the transfer document.

Are there any discounts for large groups?
Yes. There is a Group (5+) Discount. If you purchase five (5) or more Full Conference registration passes at the same time you will automatically receive a $100 discount per attendee registration. To register a large group, you will be required to purchase a minimum of five (5) Full Conference passes using one (1) credit card in a single transaction. At the time of purchase you will be sent, via email, a unique Registration Code that you can distribute to the individuals in your group. Each individual will be required to enter this group Registration Code as they begin their registration process.

How do I have my name removed from the mailing list?
To request that we remove your name from future print mailings, send a written request, specifying the name, company name and address you are requesting to have removed from the mailing list, to:

Will badges be mailed?
No, badges will not be mailed. You may pick up your badge at the main Registration Area on the street level in the North Lobby of The Moscone Center. You will be required to show a photo ID in order to obtain your badge.

Where do I pick up my badge?
You can pick up your badge on-site beginning Sunday, April 6th at 5PM. (Exhibitor and Pre-Conference Tutorial registrants can register on Saturday, April 5th, from 8:00AM-5:00PM, and on Sunday, April 6th, from 7:30AM-7:30PM.) You will be able to pick up Conference materials at the Bag Pick-Up area located in The Moscone Center-North Lobby across from Registration. Please proceed to the area marked "Pre-Registered" during the days and times noted below. You will be required to show a photo ID in order to obtain your badge.

How can I change my address with the Conference?
To review the status of your registration, or make changes and updates, please log in to the registration site at any time. Use your user name and password that you created when you registered to access your personal administration page and make edits.

What is a Personal Priority code?
You can find the Personal Priority code near your name on a printed mailer, or in the copy of an HTML email you receive. The Personal Priority codes help us determine which methods of communication work best, and reach the greatest number of people.

What is a registration code?
A registration code is used for tracking certain attendee groups. Not all attendees will use a registration code, only attendees who were given a registration code need to enter them on their registration form.

How can I get a formal invitation letter for my visa application?
You can request this letter from RSA Conferences by contacting Becky Kavanagh at becky@rsa.com.

What are the requirements for the academic registration?
Proof of your academic standing will be required when you check in on-site. Students must bring a copy of their class schedule showing 12 units or credits and a valid student ID. Full time Professors must bring a valid, accredited university ID. Failure to produce proof of your academic status will result in a charge of the full on-site Full Conference registration fee of $2,125.

What is My RSA® Conference?
My RSA Conference is a tool for creating your own personalized schedule for the Conference. 

How do I access My RSA Conference to create my personal schedule?
Visit My RSA Conference and use the user name and password that you created when you registered to access your personal schedule.

How do I access my user name and password if it is forgotten?
If you forget your user name and password you can request to have them sent to you again by sending an email to help@rsaconference.com.

Before I build my personalized schedule, I would like to see the session abstracts. Where can I find them?
Session abstracts/descriptions can be found on the Conference website in the Detailed Agenda.

What is the cancellation policy?
All registrants who cancel prior to the Conference or do not attend the Conference forfeit their entire registration fee. Once you submit your registration you are not entitled to a refund. Please remember that canceling your registration does not automatically cancel your hotel and travel arrangements. Individuals are responsible for canceling their own hotel and travel reservations.

If I am unable to attend, how can someone take my place at the Conference?
Substitutions, including those made on-site, are allowed with the written permission of the original registrant. You may submit your request via email, fax or regular/overnight mail. Please note there will be a $125 processing fee for any substitution.

How do I make a hotel reservation?
You have to be registered for the Conference in order to take advantage of the negotiated Conference rates and to book a room within the Conference hotel blocks.

To take advantage of the special rates at the RSA Conference 2008 hotels, visit www.RSAConference.com/2008/US to register for the Conference and make your housing arrangements.

If you have already registered for the Conference, log in to the registration site. Use the user name and password that you created when you registered to access your personal administration page and make your hotel arrangements online.

What do the hotels cost and how close are they to the convention center?
There are several hotels within walking distance to the convention center. The rates vary from $154 to $ 379 per night.

Are there special rates for car rentals or airfare?
No, RSA Conference 2008 does not provide special rates for airfares or rental cars.

Is transportation available from the airport?
There are several services and public transportation options available to transport you between the three San Francisco area airports and downtown SF.

Is there parking near the Convention Center?
As a City-owned facility, The Moscone Center provides information according to the City's traffic management philosophy which encourages the use of transit first. To find a parking garage, please see the parking page on the Moscone Center website.

Are there Conference shuttles?
Yes, there will be shuttle service from many of the designated Conference hotels to The Moscone Center.

Where do I find directions to the Moscone Convention Center?
They can be found on the directions page on the Moscone Center website. 


General Conference Questions

What is the expected attendance?
RSA Conference 2008 attendance is expected to exceed 17,000 attendees.

What is the Conference attire?
Casual to Business are appropriate.

Do you have an age requirement for the Conference?
You must be 18 years of age to attend the RSA Conference 2008 and Exposition.

Where can I find the Conference Abstracts/Session Descriptions?
You can review the session descriptions (abstracts) in the Detailed Agenda.

Will presentations be available after the Conference?
Presentations will be available to Full Conference attendees only – they will be provided in an electronic format. Please note that we will include as many presentations as possible, but not all presentations are available for distribution.

Will audio or video recordings of the sessions be available?
New this year, track session audio presentations will be available online to all Full Conference attendees FREE OF CHARGE after the Conference.

Will there be a job opportunity listing?
At this time there are no plans for a job opportunity listing.

What are the dates and locations of upcoming RSA Conferences?

Is meeting space available at the convention center?
There is no ancillary space available at the convention center.

Are meals included in the cost of registration?
Full Conference attendees receive continental breakfast and AM/PM breaks each day, Tuesday – Friday. Food is also included at (2) evening functions: The Welcome Reception on Monday, April 7th, and the Codebreakers Bash on Thursday, April 10th.

Are Conference translation services available?
The Conference is held in English only at this time.

What are the tutorials and is there an additional cost?

The Exposition Hall will be open on the following days for the following hours:

Booth dismantle will begin at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10th. Please refer to information located in the Exhibitor Resource Center (ERC) for complete details.

Can I purchase additional tickets to the Welcome Reception?
Additional tickets can be purchased on-line through your conference registration form. The cost is $85 per guest. You must be 18 years old to attend.

What do I wear to the Codebreakers Bash?
Party attire is appropriate for the Codebreakers Bash.

Can I purchase additional tickets to the Codebreakers Bash?
Additional tickets can be purchased on-line through your conference registration form. The cost is $150 per guest. You must be 18 years old to attend.


Testing/Credits

When is the CISSP exam and how do I register to take it?
There will not be a CISSP exam held during the RSA Conference 2008.

How many CPE credits do I get for the Conference?
You can receive credits for your attendance at the Conference. For CPE credits you simply go to www.isc2.org and you can get the appropriate information under the Post Certification tab. When you register, make sure to provide your CISSP member ID # on the registration form. RSA Conference will notify ISC(2) after the Conference that you registered and attended so that your credits can be applied. Exhibitor Public Relations Opportunities

How do I make sure I receive information on Public Relations opportunities?
All approved exhibitors should submit the name, e-mail address and phone number for one main public relations contact on the RSA Conference 2008 Exhibitor Resource Center (ERC). This should be the agency or in-house PR contact responsible for press conferences, press and analyst meetings and other PR opportunities for your company. Please contact Dave Wendland at dwendland@shiftcomm.com regarding additional PR questions.

How do I obtain the press list?
A password-protected pre-registered press and analyst list for RSA Conference 2008 will be made available in the ERC on Monday, February 4. Only paid exhibitors may access the list. Information on how to access the ERC will be e-mailed to exhibitors no later than one month prior to the Conference.

Is there press meeting space available?
Limited one-on-one press meeting spaces will be available in Moscone North, Room 120. Meeting spaces should be reserved prior to the show, however on site sign-up is available on a first–come, first-serve basis. Instructions on how to reserve a meeting space will be e-mailed to your main PR contact designated in the ERC.

Where is the Press Room area located?
The Press Room area will be located in Moscone North, Rooms 120, 121 and 122.

How do I book a press conference time slot?
Limited time slots for press conferences will be available. Space must be reserved prior to the show. Instructions on how to reserve space will be e-mailed to your main PR contact designated in the ERC.


Press & Analysts Attendance

Who do you consider press and analysts?
RSA Conference 2008 welcomes journalists and industry analysts with news/editorial organizations and research firms. Broadcast camera crews and photographers are included in this category and will need to complete the registration process as well.

What are the qualifications to get a press pass for a member of the press?
You will need to indicate the type of organization you are representing and provide a direct link to your latest written article or report, with your name included, posted at an editorial or analyst Web site. RSA Conference 2008 Press Relations will not search a Web site for your article and publication. Home pages will not be accepted. A direct link is required. Please note that RSA Conference does not archive previous registered press and analyst attendees – this means that even if you have registered and attended the Conference before, you will still need to complete the registration form.

What are the qualifications to get a press pass for industry analysts?
Analysts and writers from internationally recognized industry research firms, who consistently write for regularly published newsletters and/or reports, must provide both a business card with an editorial title and a sample of an industry-related report published in the past six months.

What are the qualifications to get a press pass for financial analysts?
Financial analysts, regardless of editorial assignments, will not be given editorial press passes.

How do I obtain a press pass?
Use the press and analyst registration link at www.RSAConference.com/2008/US to submit credentials. Your information will be reviewed and your registration approved or denied based on your credentials. Contact Alex Kirschner at akirschner@shiftcomm.com with any registration questions.

What does a press pass provide access to?
With an approved press pass, you will have access to the keynotes, exhibit floor, track sessions and press space. The press pass does not provide access to the tutorials or Peer2Peer sessions.

Where do I pick up my press pass?
You will need to pick up your press pass on-site at the RSA Conference 2008 Media Registration area, located in the North lobby of the Moscone Center.

Who do I contact for pre-show interviews?
Contact Alex Kirschner at akirschner@shiftcomm.com to arrange pre-show interviews with speakers or RSA Conference management.


Founders

How do I become a part of the Founders Circle?
To qualify as a “Founder” you shall have attended at least five (5) Conferences in total. (Qualifying Conferences include US, Japan, and Europe.)

You have to indicate on your registration form that you have attended these Conferences in the past. Use your user name and password that you created when you registered to access your personal administration page and make edits.

Speakers

How do I register for the Conference?
You will need to log into the Speaker Resource Center (available later this fall) and select the Registration option.

How much does the Conference cost?
As a track session or keynote speaker, you receive a complimentary Full Conference registration.

Does this include my hotel?
No, you are responsible for all lodging costs, but the Conference has secured special rates at local hotels, which can be found on the Conference Web site.

How do I register for my hotel?
You can register for a room at one of the RSA Conference hotels online.

Does a complimentary Conference registration include all of my meals?
Your complimentary registration includes continental breakfast, AM/PM breaks, and lunch each day, Tuesday – Friday. Food is also included at the Speaker Dinner and at (2) evening functions: The Welcome Reception on Monday, April 7th, and the Codebreakers Bash on Thursday, April 10th.

Can I attend other sessions?
Your complimentary Full Conference Registration allows you to attend all Conference sessions, activities and events, with the exception of the pre-Conference Tutorial program.
