Quick Look: 1984 Redux: China’s Social Credit System a Harbinger of the Future?

China’s Social Credit System (SCS) will collect broad-based data on every Chinese citizen/business entity to generate a score representing a publicly available trustworthiness and integrity rating. The rating will be used to grant/deny societal benefits. This talk will explore whether the SCS is a harbinger for similar initiatives by other nations including the development of predictive policing systems.

Learning Objectives:
1: Understand China’s Social Credit System and the role of tech companies.
2: Compare the Chinese Social Credit System to the Singapore and the US approaches.
3: Explore the effect of these systems on business models, privacy and security.
