Privacy drives innovation. When we are observed, our behavior changes and innovation becomes stifled. Protecting our privacy remains a pressing, global concern: especially where democracy intersects with privacy. Violations of privacy come with hefty penalties, but are we prepared for the larger discussions of what privacy means with so many organizations using our data? Talks at RSAC 2017 provided a number of perspectives on what privacy means, what people are willing to give up, and just how complex the conversation of security and privacy has become.
