What to Expect at RSAC: Networking

Posted on by Kacy Zurkus

RSA Conference is where the world comes to talk about security because, among many other programming elements, we showcase some of the most innovative thinkers and thought leaders who take the stage to deliver quality content for attendees. I do love a good talk, but I also know from having spent nearly two decades as a classroom teacher that the sage-on-the-stage model, when mixed with other formats, creates a fantastic learning experience for everyone. People love to connect with and learn from other people too. That’s why we put so much care and attention into curating the interactive learning and networking opportunities that will be equally as rich and plentiful at RSA Conference 2022.

Get Social

Opportunities to engage socially with other attendees are available throughout the week. Fun fact: several different Sponsored Experiences are being held across the Moscone campus throughout the week.

On Monday, June 6, all attendees can jump right into meeting and greeting their industry peers and cohorts at the RSAC 2022 Welcome Reception, held in the Expo on Monday, June 6, from 5 to 7 PM. Open to all pass holders, folks can enjoy beverages and hors d’oeuvres as you preview solutions from 350+ leading information security organizations. Additionally, mark your calendars for Tuesday’s CyBEER Ops, a networking event hosted by RSAC Sandbox and RSAC Early Stage Expo. Unwind at the end of your day with some appetizers and craft brews or non-alcoholic beverages as you explore the 35 startups that call the Early Stage Expo home for the week. You can also join in group play of Backdoors & Breaches, Offensive Team CTF walk-through, get a book signed, and more.

And on Wednesday, June 8, you’ll want to make sure to add the Expo Pub Crawl to your dance card so that you can enjoy complimentary beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages as you visit sponsoring companies’ booths to learn about their latest innovations.

Learn Together

With more than 350 sessions across 24 tracks, there are boundless opportunities to hear industry influencers share their experiences, and our interactive learning opportunities allow you to both hear and be heard. You can engage with others in a wide variety of small group discussions and hands-on learning experiences. Here’s a breakdown of the different formats for you to choose from:

Birds of a Feather: Want to deepen your understanding of cyber insurance? Or maybe you’re looking for peer guidance on how to make your security messaging more impactful? These small-group, focused discussions will give you the chance to interact with peers and industry experts while providing you with actionable guidance you can immediately apply. Birds-of-a-Feather sessions are open to Full Conference attendees only, press is not permitted, and capacity is limited, so reserve a seat now.

Learning Labs: Ignorance Is Not Bliss, but engaging in highly interactive learning experiences at RSAC 2022 can be. Register now for any of the 20 Learning Labs offered throughout the week. You’ll have the chance to take a deeper dive with these hands-on sessions, where you can build your network of colleagues with similar interests. Labs are open to Full Conference attendees only. Press is not permitted in Lab sessions, and capacity is limited, so reserve a seat today.

RSAC Sandbox explores various disciplines of cybersecurity in new and innovative ways. RSAC 2022 will feature six different sandboxes with dozens of interactive experiences such as Capture the Flag and live demos. You’ll also find Lightning Talks—our new rapid-fire session format.

College Day: For the up-and-coming members of the RSAC community, we have a rich blending of structured and casual learning experiences that range from one to few and one to many.

Read All about It!

Maybe you’re more of a bookworm than a social butterfly. No worries. We have a space for you as well. DigitalGuru brings you the latest cybersecurity titles at special discounted rates, plus an exclusive book with some of the industry’s most notable influencers, including Ted Harrington, Tanya Janca, Jennifer Minella, Bruce Schneier, and Ira Winkler. Check out the full schedule of signings at the RSAC Bookstore located in Moscone South, Esplanade level, and remember that RSAC attendees receive 20% off all purchases.

The Cybersecurity Canon: New this year, we are pleased to partner with the Cybersecurity Canon, which is run by a committee of cybersecurity professionals that curates a list of cybersecurity books specifically for cybersecurity professionals who are looking to find meaningful information and resources that illuminate the technical, historical, and political aspects of the profession. Each year, three new books are inducted into the Cybersecurity Canon Hall of Fame.

This year’s winners are Cyber Warfare – Truth, Tactics, and Strategies by Chase Cunningham; Zero Trust Networks by Doug Barth and Evan Gilman; and Security Metrics: A Beginner’s Guide by Caroline Wong. Meet these authors and have them sign your copy of their books in the RSAC Bookstore.
