Last month, I wrote about the Mobile Transformation, the consumerization of information technology, and managing mobile devices in the enterprise. 

I gave a sneak preview of my upcoming book on managing mobile devices in the enterprise.  I just finished reviewing the page proofs for the book.  Accordingly, the book is on track for the publisher, the American Bar Association Section of Science & Technology Law, to have the book on sale in time for the ABA's Annual Meeting the first whole week of August.

The book's focus is on managing an enterprise mobile device program.  For instance, it covers risk analysis and risk management, making the determination as to whether or not the enterprise should permit employees to bring their own devices to work, establishing policies and other documentation to support the program, procuring technology to support the program, and implementing the program.  The book will also cover electronic discovery, information security, privacy, protecting trade secrets, insurance, and employment law issues.  I was thinking of what you, my RSA blog readers and other people who read my firm's newsletter, might be interested in seeing concerning BYOD and tackling the hard legal issues that arise from it.

Once the book is done, what happens then?  I plan on updating the book from time to time.  The technology is moving fast, and I believe it will require additions and changes on a regular basis.

To give you one example, this spring's buzz about Google Glass told me that I should add some coverage about the device in the book.  I am anticipating that employers will have to manage Google Glass and similar devices in the way they manage smart phones and tablets today.  And then there are all of the issues with wearable computers aboutelectronic discovery, information security, privacy, protecting trade secrets, and so on.  Also, it won't stop with Google Glass.  There will always be new devices to manage.
