Day 4 Recap: Closing Remarks from Hugh Thompson and Steve Wozniak, RSAC College Day, and Looking Forward to 2022!

Posted on

It has been a whirlwind of a week! Over the past four days, we have learned so much from our notable lineup of keynote speakers and the 449 sessions including keynotes, track sessions, interactive programs, tutorials, seminars, and many special digital-first programs that focused on best practices and innovation. In total, RSAC 2021 consisted of 435 hours of virtual content that highlighted resilience within the cybersecurity industry and celebrated how far the RSAC community has come over the past 30 years.

Don’t forget that over 200 hours of RSAC content are available via OnDemand and available to collect CPE credits until July 20, 2011. If you already have an All Access or Content pass, simply log into the VE. If you haven’t registered yet, no problem, just register for an OnDemand pass

Let’s look back at the fourth and final day of RSAC 2021

Today in the Privacy Metrics: Measuring Privacy Programs presentation, IAPP explored the need for a supportive privacy program, especially as compliance programs grow and organizations focus their attentions on an increasing number of regulations and frameworks from around the world. During her presentation, “Evolving the Measures,” Forrester analyst, Enza Iannopollo, advised audiences to, “Use your privacy metrics to build a story and engage executives, the board, and the larger ecosystem. Leverage metrics not just to describe where you are, but also as an opportunity to educate the organizations on the value of privacy and ethical use of data.”

Each year at RSA Conference, SANS provides the authoritative briefing on the most dangerous new attack techniques in use today, what's coming next, and what organizations can do to prepare. This year our SANS keynotes gave organizations insight on The Five Most Dangerous New Attack Techniques. Katie Nickels from SANS Institute/Red Canary, reminded the audience about the dangers of ransomware attacks, “There is no honor amongst thieves. We as defenders have to be thinking how this exfiltration and extortion is the new normal.”

As the world’s largest virtual cybersecurity event, RSA Conference is an incredible resource for the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. By sharing their own experiences and insights, our panel of experts explored current careers and opportunities in cybersecurity at this year’s RSAC College Day.

Closing out RSAC Conference 2021, a virtual experience with The Hugh Thompson Show: Backyard Edition, we focused on the brightside of resilience, one of innovation and reinvention. Hugh celebrated the opportunities ahead with special guest, beloved inventor Steve Wozniak, who gave us a peek into the mind of an optimistic creator by sharing his experiences, revelations, and perspective of a bright future. Steve advises innovators to, “Take chances because it’ll be the most fun time in your life. If you’re pursuing something that has never been done, you can have the most fun ever!”

Looking Ahead

And with that, we close out RSA Conference 2021! We hope everyone who attended this virtual experience, leaves feeling inspired, and with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the resilience in cybersecurity. But you won’t have to wait a full year for the next RSA Conference – we’ll see you at RSA Conference 2022, taking place as a hybrid event February 7 – 11, 2022 in San Francisco.

P.S. Don’t forget about RSAC 2021 onDemand.  If you already have an All Access or Content pass, simply log into the VE to start viewing the over 200 hours of content OnDemand which is eligible for CPE Credits until July 20, 2021. If you haven’t registered yet, just register for an OnDemand pass where you can continue to receive CPE credits for the next 60 days.
