Zhiwei Li is a research scientist at Shape Security where he works on building the world’s first botwall; a new class of technology to defend websites against advanced attacks. Shape has raised $66 million from Kleiner Perkins, Google Ventures, Eric Schmidt, and other leading investors. At Shape, he analyzes some of the world’s most sophisticated malware and builds the next generation of counter-measures. He received his Ph.D. from University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2012, supervised by Prof. Weichao Wang. His dissertation developed a formal model for reasoning about verifying messages. Following that, he worked as a researcher at UC Berkeley with Prof. Dawn Song. His work on password managers was covered extensively in the popular press.
