Mr. Iida was appointed National Cyber Director and Deputy National Security Advisor on July 1, 2025, after serving as Deputy Chief Executive at the National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC), Director-General for Economic Security at the Cabinet Office, several key positions in international trade and industrial policies at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), including Director-General of the Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau and Director-General of the Trade Control Department. He currently leads the National Cybersecurity Office, which formulates a national cybersecurity strategy and develops detailed rules of the Active Cyber Defense Act.
