Tony Sager is Senior VP & Chief Evangelist for the Center for Internet Security. He started the work known as the CIS Critical Security Controls, a world-wide volunteer best-practices program. Tony serves as inaugural member of the DHS/CISA Cyber Safety Review Board, Advisor to the Minnesota CyberSecurity Summit; and formerly on the National Academy of Sciences Cyber Resilience Forum. Sager retired from the National Security Agency (2012) after 34 years as technical leader and executive manager. He led two of the Agency’s premier analytic organizations for cyberdefense: the Systems & Network Attack Center, and the Vulnerability Analysis & Operations Group. He also led the public release of NSA security guidance (2001). In 2023, Tony was inducted into the Cybersecurity Hall of Fame.
