Tim Maurer

Tim Maurer is Senior Director, Global Cybersecurity Policy, at Microsoft. His team collaborates closely with Microsoft’s internal product, security, and engineering teams and external stakeholders in government, industry, and civil society to advance cybersecurity public policy at the intersection of geopolitics and emerging technologies. Prior to joining Microsoft, Tim served in the US government, first as Senior Counselor for Cybersecurity and Emerging Technology to the US Secretary of Homeland Security and subsequently at the White House National Security Council. Previously, he spent a decade working on cybersecurity policy at various think tanks and in academia. He is the author of "Cyber Mercenaries: The State, Hackers, and Power" published by Cambridge University Press.
