Prior to joining Wave Systems in 2010, Robert Thibadeau was Chief Technologist at Seagate Technology, LLC. There Thibadeau pioneered a new form of hardware-based encryption, known commercially as self-encrypting drives. He developed the Trusted Computing Group self-encrypting drive specifications. He was also Chair of the Storage Workgroup in the Trusted Computing Group, and a founding director of the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. He holds a number of patents and has taught IT computer security at the graduate level in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University since 1996. He has graduated hundreds of computer IT professionals in this subject. He holds degrees from Emory University and the University of Virginia.
