Robert Burls

Bob is an independent IT Security Consultant with Sophos, the Metropolitan Police Central e-Crime Unit (PCeU) and the Academy of European Law. Bob completed a successful career as a Detective Constable in the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS); where he was employed as technical investigator for the PCeU, having been in the post since the creation of the unit and prior to this, the Metropolitan Police Computer Crime Unit in 2004 and the National Hi Tech Crime Unit in 2001. Bob specialises in management of Computer Incident Response and the investigation of Malicious Computer Code, Phishing and Denial of Service attacks, and Unauthorised Computer Intrusions. Bob has extensive experience of international investigations and multi-jurisdictional issues in this complex and challenging area.
