Robert Brese

Bob Brese is a VP and Executive Partner with Gartner, Inc., the world’s leading information research and advisory company where he advises public and private enterprises on leveraging technology for business success. He was CIO for the US Department of Energy (DOE), whose national laboratory and production facility missions span open science to nuclear security. Brese led DOE’s $2 billion IT program, including key initiatives in open data, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. He was DOE’s Senior Agency Official for Privacy and for Information Sharing and Safeguarding and served two years as DOE’s Acting CISO. He was a key contributor to national efforts in cyber legislation; policy; cybersecurity technology research, development, and deployment; and critical infrastructure protection.
