Rob Sloan is Research Director at WSJ Pro, the Wall Street Journal’s professional arm. His role focuses on providing thought leadership, building datasets and contributing to the WSJ Pro Cybersecurity newsletter. He is based in Princeton and has been with the company since 2014. Previously, he was Response Director for a specialist IT security consultancy in London and worked with multinational organizations that had experienced data loss events. Sloan started his career working for the UK government looking at some of the earliest state sponsored attacks against the critical national infrastructure. He focused on the motivations and technical capabilities of threat actors to understand the attacks in the context of the intelligence requirements of the states carrying them out.
