Rob T. Lee is Chief AI Officer and Chief of Research at SANS Institute, leading AI governance and security transformation. He authored the SANS Secure AI Blueprint and SANS Critical AI Security Guidelines, which through OWASP partnership inform EU AI Act implementation. An Air Force Academy graduate, Rob founded the Air Force’s first cyber warfare unit and served in AFOSI, CIA, and NSA offensive cyber roles. At Mandiant, he co-authored early M-Trends reports on advanced threats. Known as the “Godfather of DFIR,” he formalized digital forensics, incident response, and threat intelligence as disciplines, training tens of thousands through SANS. He serves as Technical Advisor to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court and Commissioner on the CSIS Commission on US Cyber Force Generation.
