Peter is a career civil servant of the European Parliament, currently on unpaid leave of absence and recently re-established in Belgium after seven years in the USA. His consultancy advises companies, governments and international organisations on technology strategy and governance; and is heavily involved in standardization work globally. Peter's career until 2007 in the European Parliament covered all aspects of the organization's work, from chief of staff of the majority leader, acting as a political adviser, developing (pre-Web) online information networks, rolling out the organisation's first information and technology governance strategy and involving the Parliament in technology standards work. Peter worked with the Austrian Government as a senior policy adviser on electronic identity and eGovernment standards before taking a career break from public service. He is a IAPP certified privacy technologist (CIPT) and a member of the Institute of Directors.
