Matthew Gould is the Director of Cyber Security in Cabinet Office where his team are focused on keeping Britain safe from cyberattack. They hold the National Cyber Security Programme and the National Cyber Security Strategy. His most recent posting was as British Ambassador to Israel from 2010 to 2015. He set up the UK/Israel Tech Hub to forge links between British and Israeli companies in technology. He also set up the UK/Israel Sciences Council and a major collaboration in regenerative medicine. He had previously served as Principal Private Secretary (Chief of Staff) to the Foreign Secretary, and worked briefly as Private Secretary for Foreign Affairs for Tony Blair and then Gordon Brown in Downing Street. He was Robin Cook's speechwriter from 1997 to 1999. He is married with two young girls.
