Matthew Grote

Matthew R. Grote is Senior Lead for Cyber Defense Innovations at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency within the US Department of Homeland Security. His recent strategy and policy efforts include supporting development of: CISA’s cybersecurity strategy; guidance to boards of directors; approaches for countering ransomware; efforts to protect civil society organizations from authoritarian digital repression; and support to university cybersecurity clinics. Previously, he supported cyber policy and oversight in the Office of the Secretary of Defense; led cyber legislation efforts within the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee; and conducted security audits for the Government Accountability Office.
