Major George Perera is the Commander of the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Strategic Innovation and High Technology Crimes Section and the South Florida Cyber Crime Task Force, which has the primary responsibility of enforcing federal, state, and local criminal laws relating to computer and technology crime through forensic collection, recovery, processing, preservation, analysis, storage, maintenance, and presentation of digital evidence. The Section includes digital forensics, video forensics, technical operations, cyber crimes investigations and internet crimes against children. Additionally he leads special projects of departmental interest and serves as the departmental research body to assist in recommending and establishing new and innovative ideas as well as best practices.
