Laura Bate is a policy analyst with the Cybersecurity Initiative at New America, where she researches mechanisms for building a more robust cybersecurity workforce. She also coordinates the Cybersecurity Fellows Program and supports the Humans of Cybersecurity project, an effort addressing diversity in the cybersecurity community. She was a 2017 WiSe (Women in Security) Fellow at the American Security Project and has written on information security in the Middle East and other national security issues for Foreign Policy, Slate, War on the Rocks, and The National Interest. Bate received her master's degree from Georgetown University's Security Studies Program. She holds a bachelor's degree in economics and international affairs from the University of Colorado - Boulder.
