Karen Klein is a Ph.D. Student at IST Austria, supervised by Krzysztof Pietrzak. Her background is in mathematics and her area of research theoretical cryptography. For her thesis she focuses on the problem of proving adaptive security, but also works on various more applied topics including group messaging protocols, proofs of sequential work for blockchain applications, and memory-hard functions. Since the pandemic she also got interested in the recent advances in automated contact tracing.
