Justin Brookman is the Director, Consumer Privacy and Technology Policy, for Consumers Union, the policy and advocacy arm of Consumer Reports. This work includes identifying gaps in consumer privacy, data security policy and building strategies to influence the Digital Standard being developed to evaluate the privacy and security of IoT products. Prior he was Policy Director of the FTC where he conducted research on key including cross-device tracking, smartphone security and IoT. He helped investigate enforcement actions against deceptive or unfair practices, including actions against data brokers and digital tracking companies. Prior he served as Director of Consumer Privacy at the Center for Democracy & Technology, and served as an NY State Assistant Attorney General.
