J.R. Rao

J.R. Rao is an IBM Fellow and CTO for Security Research, leading 200+ researchers focused on AI security, cybersecurity, cloud security, and cryptography. As Co-Chair of OASIS Open Group's Coalition for Secure AI (CoSAI) Technical Steering Committee and member of its Executive Steering Committee, he drives vendor-neutral AI security standards across 40+ organizations including Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI. His research spans Using AI for security and securing AI, working with commercial and government customers to integrate innovative security technologies into IBM products, and definitive industry standards. Rao has published extensively in premier security conferences and holds numerous US and European patents, focusing on raising security quality while easing deployment complexity.
