John Armit

Acting Detective Sergeant John Armit has served with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for over 24 years in roles including general investigations, major crime, traffic services, and as a Community Service and Media Officer. In 2015, he joined the OPP Anti‑Rackets Branch, focusing on major economic crime, cyber-enabled fraud, and political corruption. From 2021 to 2024, he was seconded to the Canadian Anti‑Fraud Centre as a Detective Sergeant and national/international law enforcement liaison. In 2026, John became Team Leader for East Region’s Integrated Fraud Awareness and Response Initiative (IFARI). He also presents at the Ontario and Canadian Police Colleges on cyber-enabled, elder abuse and financial crimes. In 2024, he received FINTRAC’s Excellence for Partnership Award.
