Joel DeCapua

Joel DeCapua is a Supervisory Special Agent in the FBI's Global Operations and Targeting Unit where he manages and coordinates the FBI's strategy to identify and prosecute cyber-criminals. He has led investigative efforts on some of the FBI’s notable hacking cases including the 2014 hacks of several of the largest financial institutions in the United States, the 2014 insider hack of one of the largest investment banks in the United States, the 2015 hacks of prominent law firms and the 2017 outbreak of a major world-wide ransomware. DeCapua holds numerous cybersecurity certifications, has testified as an expert witness and is a subject-matter expert in digital forensics, cryptocurrency and network security. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, artisanal baking and drinking IPAs.
