Glenn S. Gerstell, a Senior Adviser at the Center for Strategic & International Studies, was the General Counsel of the US National Security Agency (2015-2020). A frequent commentator on CNN, MSNBC and NPR, he has presented at RSAC on three occasions and written about the intersections of technology and national security for the New York Times, the Washington Post, The New Yorker, The Hill, Barron’s, and POLITICO. He serves on the National Academies’ Future of Encryption committee; was appointed by President Obama to the National Infrastructure Advisory Council; practiced law at Milbank, LLP, focusing on the global telecommunications industry (serving as the managing partner of Washington, DC, Singapore, and Hong Kong offices); and graduated from Columbia University School of Law.
