Eric Idle has been writing and performing comedy since Cambridge University where he became President of The Footlights, a Comedy Revue Club. He began writing professionally for radio and TV in the 60’s, which led to Monty Python’s Flying Circus in 1969. The improbable success of the show led to movies, such as The Holy Grail, which he adapted with John Du Prez into the record-breaking musical Spamalot, which ran for almost 5 years on Broadway, winning 3 Tony Awards, including Best Musical in 2005, and a Grammy, as well as The Life of Brian, which they made into an Oratotio. He created The Rutles, the world’s first mockumentary in All You Need is Cash, a Beatles parody; he has appeared on stage, on global tours, in opera (The Mikado at The ENO), has written plays, novels and a Tour Diary.
