Elisebeth Cook has served as a Member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board since August 2012. She is a counsel in the Washington DC office of Wilmer Hale. Previously, she served as Assistant Attorney General for Legal Policy, U.S. Department of Justice. During her four years at the Justice Department, she spearheaded initiatives and provided advice relating to national security and violent crime. She also served as a member of the Board of Governance of the Terrorist Screening Center. Ms. Cook was a clerk to the Hon. Laurence H. Silberman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and to the Hon. Lee H. Rosenthal of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. She holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
