Eliot Lear is a Principal Engineer in Cisco Systems’ Chief Technology Office. He is a Cisco lead for internet governance and cybersecurity policy, standards strategy and identity management. He is a senior advisor in Cisco’s cybersecurity policy engagement. Lear is a senior contributor to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), having authored many standards and best practices on topics ranging from internet routing to network management protocols to security and identity services. He holds several patents in this area. He has also chaired a research group in the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF). Since March of 2013, Lear has sat as a member of the Internet Architecture Board (IAB), an oversight committee of the IETF and an advisory function to the Internet Society.
