David N. Patariu, PLS, CISSP, FIP, is product counsel focused on privacy, children’s privacy, IoT, wearables, monetization, and AI at Lenovo and Motorola. He advises on global compliance (COPPA, GDPR, UK Online Safety Act, CCPA/CPRA), product design, and trust & safety, and previously led Yahoo’s response to a $5m COPPA fine. He has earned graduate degrees in Computer Science and Informatics from Cornell and Stanford. A former in-house and law-firm Attorney, he has managed incident response, data governance, and vendor risk, negotiated complex data/AI terms, and supported youth features. He brings a builder’s lens—PIAs/DPIAs, red-team tests, and vendor terms that ship—and translates law into deployable controls such as bracketed age tokens, consent signals, and minors-by-design defaults.
