David Jefferson

David Jefferson is a computer scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he conducts research in large scale simulation applied to network security. Jefferson is also a national expert on voting technology and security, having studied it for over 15 years. In 2004 he was coauthor of the "SERVE Security Report" which documented security vulnerabilities in the DoD's Internet voting program and led to cancellation of the $22 million program. He also served on the CA Secretary of State’s Task Force on Touchscreen Voting whose report led to the requirement for voter verified paper trails on all electronic voting machines. He has also served on numerous other teams investigating voting technology and security issues, and has spoken, written, and testified widely on that subject.
