Charalampos Papamanthou is the Director of the Maryland Cybersecurity Center (MC2) and an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland. He works on applied cryptography and computer security. He has received the NSF CAREER award, the Google Faculty Award, the Yahoo! Faculty Award, the NetApp Fellowship, the UMD Invention Award, and the George Corcoran Award for Teaching. He was also a finalist for the 2020 Facebook Privacy award. His research has been funded by federal agencies and by the industry. His work has received over 8,000 citations, and he has published in theoretical and applied cryptography, systems and database security, graph algorithms, and operations research. Beginning July 2021, he will be joining Yale University as an Associate Professor of Computer Science.
