Bruce McConnell is the Global VP of the EastWest Institute in New York, an independent, nonprofit organization that works to reduce international conflicts that threaten peace and stability. Since 2008, EWI’s Global Cooperation in Cyberspace Initiative has carried this mission into cyberspace. Prior to coming to EWI, McConnell served at the US Department of Homeland Security (2009–13) where he was Deputy Under Secretary for Cybersecurity. He built, grew and sold two government relations consultancies in Washington, DC during the 00s. He directed UN/World Bank global Y2K remediation efforts. He served in the White House budget office. He spends considerable time in the capitals and headquarters of major government and private cyber-powers, working to build understanding and reduce conflict.
