Brian Krebs

Brian Krebs is an independent investigative reporter and author of KrebsOnSecurity.com, an award-winning cybersecurity news site that celebrated its 16th year in December 2025. From 1996-2009, Krebs was a reporter for The Washington Post and Washingtonpost.com, where he authored the popular Security Fix blog. His current reporting focuses primarily on exposing complex, distributed cybercrime operations, and identifying the people and entities that support them. In 2015, the National Press Foundation presented Krebs with its Chairman's Citation, which honors individuals or organizations whose work falls outside traditional categories of excellence. Krebs graduated in 1994 from George Mason University with a B.A. in International Relations.
