Brendan Shields is the Staff Director for the House Homeland Security Committee, a role he has held since April 2014. The Committee provides congressional oversight to the US Department of Homeland Security to better protect America against possible terrorist attacks. Shields served as a leader in counterterrorism and homeland security issues both at home and overseas. He worked at the White House coordinating security policy and deployed as a US Navy Officer with Special Operations Forces overseas to target and eliminate terrorists. He worked as a Vice President at a leading security company that holds contracts with the US government. His government experience includes work at the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State, and various offices in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
