application security engineer, Starbucks Coffee Company
Alun Jones is a security guard at a coffee shop. At least, that's what he imagines he'd tell people if he were invited to a party. Currently working as an application security engineer at Starbucks Coffee Company in Seattle, Jones has been an AppSec engineer at companies in the Seattle area and beyond, as well as a software developer at others. For many years, he ran his own business, writing and selling a popular FTP server for Windows, WFTPD. Security has been a part of Jones' job title since 2006 and a part of his responsibilities, assigned or voluntary, for over a decade before that. You may also have encountered him as a Microsoft Security MVP from 2004 to 2014, with a one-year break caused by accidentally being employed by Microsoft. Went to school with Zero Cool.
