Ali Zand is a Software Engineer in Google’s security and anti-abuse research team and works on solutions that protect users against Internet threats. Zand received his Ph.D. from the University of California Santa Barbara where he researched system security topics such as service dependency detection and asset protection prioritization, botnet C&C signature generation, application-level DDoS attack defenses, and information leak detection. Zand’s interests include developing robust detection models for protecting users against most prevalent attack methods, such as spam, phishing and malware. Zand currently lives in Sunnyvale with his wife and a squirrel that knows no fear.
