Alexander Watson is director of security research for Websense, Inc. In this role, Watson leads the Websense Security Labs’ efforts to develop intelligent software capable of discovering emerging threats. After completing his B.S. in computer science in 2002 at Indiana University, he joined the National Security Agency (NSA) where he served as both a global network exploitation analyst and a field operations officer. In 2009, he left the government to co-found BTS. As chief technology officer, he led the development of a software-defined 4G core network and intelligent management software. This project resulted in the U.S. Army’s first deployment of 3G and 4G cellular networks, which has been operating in Afghanistan since 2011.
