Vincenzo Ciancaglini

Dr. Vincenzo Ciancaglini, PhD, is a Senior Threat Researcher at Trend Micro. Since 2012 he has been working in the Forward-looking Threat Research team, a team tasked with scouting the future of technology a few years from now, with a focus on both the evolution of user and criminal behavior. His main areas of interest are darknet systems, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, both from a defensive and offensive perspective. With this regard, he authored the 2020 with Europol and UNICRI report “Malicious uses and abuses of Artificial Intelligence” and more recently a series of articles examining the impacts, potentials, and shortcomings of Large Language Models such as ChatGPT, and their use in the criminal underground.
