Steven Kunsman

Steve Kunsman leads Hitachi Energy’s (former ABB Power Grids) Grid Automation technical team within North America for the electric energy segments. He is a recognized Substation Automation Specialist with over 37 years in substation automation, protection and control applications including communications technologies and cybersecurity for substation OT Systems. Kunsman’s ABB career began in 1984 as an Electrical Designer. He holds five patents related to protection, control, and automation applications, and has published over 30 articles and conference papers on digital substation, substation automation & communications, protection, and substation cybersecurity. He was the IEEE PES Power System Communications and Cybersecurity past chair for the Cybersecurity Subcommittee (2017-2021)
