Dr. Laurie Locascio

Laurie Locascio is Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology and Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. She most recently served as VP for research at Univ. of Maryland College Park and Univ. of Maryland Baltimore. She also served as a professor in the Fischell Dept. of Bioengineering at the A. James Clark School of Engineering with a secondary appointment in the School of Medicine’s Dept. of Pharmacology. As a researcher, she has published 115 scientific papers and received 12 patents. She is a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, the American Assoc. for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. She was recently elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
