Herb Stapleton
Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation
Herb Stapleton is the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Indianapolis Field Office. He joined the FBI in 2004 and his previous assignments include the St. Louis, Chicago, and Cincinnati Field Offices. Herb has held leadership positions in the FBI Cyber Division, including Deputy Assistant Director at FBI Headquarters, where he led the coordination of interagency and international operations against cyber adversaries such as ransomware gangs and sophisticated nation-state actors. His work has helped shape the strategic vision for the FBI Cyber mission. Herb holds a bachelor’s degree from Centre College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Prior to the FBI, he represented businesses in transactional and litigation matters as an attorney in private practice.
