Computer Scientist and Mobile Device Security Lead, NCCoE/NIST
Gema Howell is as a Computer Scientist within the Applied Cybersecurity Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Gema works to create reference architectures for enterprise mobile deployments at the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE). Gema also researches methods to secure smartphones and wearables tailored to first responders. Previous research efforts include investigating methods to securely manage mobile devices for the emergency medical and fire services, and law enforcement. As cybersecurity lead on the NIST Voting Team, she’s assisted in the development of the VVSG 2.0 Principles and Guidelines and drafted accompanying VVSG 2.0 requirements.
