Gema Howell is a Computer Scientist in the Applied Cybersecurity Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Howell creates reference architectures for secure enterprise mobile deployments at the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE). Howell also researches methods to secure smartphones, wearables, and other IoT devices tailored to first responders. As the Cybersecurity Lead on the NIST Voting Team, she’s assisted in the development of the Voluntary Voting System Guidelines (VVSG) 2.0 and produces guidance material to support secure elections.
