BigCo is defending a lawsuit and a litigation hold is in place. Trade-secret data is at issue. The GC asks you to collect data so it can be reviewed and produced by counsel. Failure to do so correctly could lead to sanctions, all the way up to a disastrous finding for the plaintiffs.
