We’re Not in Kansas Anymore: Measuring the Impact of a Data Breach

Posted on in Presentations

For years we have tried to measure data-breach impact. This session will present findings from 4,000+ incidents studied. Impact modifiers are discussed that increase the intensity of the breach, changing a relatively minor breach into a terminal event. An impact scale is proposed to help practitioners determine the likelihood of a breach with these indicators of impact affecting their organizations.

Learning Objectives:
1: Identify indicators of breach impact that combine to intensify the seriousness of an event.
2: Learn about the breach impact scale and how to use it.
3: Understand that highest risk is based on industry and characteristics.

Pre-Requisites:
No specific knowledge is required. Concepts will be introduced and explained.
