One of the most critical elements of a democratic society is the integrity of its elections. Ensuring outcome integrity isn’t possible in many parts of the US, where vulnerable election systems provide numerous ways to subvert results. Join journalist and author Kim Zetter, who has written about the security of election systems, to discuss how elections can be hijacked and how we arrived at this state of insecurity.
Learning Objectives:
1: Understand the many ways an election can be hijacked and why little has been done to improve the situation in more than a decade
2: Learn about some of the disturbing problems that have occurred in real elections in the past
3: Explore what we know and don't know about what occurred in the 2016 elections and what we can expect in elections this year and beyond
